XS505M and XS508M incorporate 5-speed Ethernet ports offering FastEthernet, 1 Gigabit, 2.5 Gigabit, 5 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit connection, as well as 1 fiber SFP + port with 1 Gigabit or 10 Gigabit connection.
Each port automatically detects the speed the connected device needs and provides the proper amount. Unlike traditional 10 Gigabit switches that only provide 1 Gigabit connectivity to any device that needs less than 10 Gigabit, the XS505M or XS508M models offer exactly the required speed, without degradation. In addition, the ports of the new NETGEAR 5-speed switch can be connected with conventional CAT5E Ethernet cables, without the need to upgrade to Cat6, reducing wiring costs and problems
