Custom-Built Servers for Businesses

In an increasingly demanding business environment, having a server that perfectly suits your needs makes all the difference between an efficient infrastructure and one that hinders business growth. At Ibertrónica, we have been configuring and supplying custom servers for companies, engineering firms, SMEs, and technical professionals throughout Spain and Europe for over 28 years. Whether you need computing power for machine learning, high availability for virtualization with Proxmox or VMware, massive storage for video surveillance, or robustness for cybersecurity environments, here you will find the custom server you are looking for, configured with the exact components your project requires. What is a custom server and why is it better than a standard one? A standard out-of-the-box server comes configured by the manufacturer with predefined components designed to cover the widest possible range of uses. This generalist approach forces companies to pay for capabilities they don't need or, conversely, to fall short on resources that are critical to their business. A custom server, on the other hand, is assembled from scratch, choosing each component based on the actual workload: processor type, amount of ECC RAM, number of storage bays, network connectivity, redundant power supply, and rack format. The result is a perfectly sized machine, without unnecessary costs and with performance optimized for your specific use case. Differences between a standard server and a custom-configured server

The server form factor determines its installation and scalability. The 1U rack maximizes rack density; The 2U rack offers more space for drive bays and expansion cards. The 4U rack is the ideal platform for GPU servers with multiple accelerators. Pedestal (tower) models are suitable for environments without rack cabinets, such as offices or small installations.
Configureable Server Components
The advantage of a custom server lies in being able to choose each component according to your technical requirements and budget. Below we detail the main elements you can configure when ordering your server from Ibertrónica.
Processors: Intel Xeon, AMD Epyc, number of sockets
The processor determines the computing capacity, the number of available cores, and support for features such as ECC memory or hardware virtualization (VT-x, AMD-V).
At Ibertrónica, we work with the latest generations of Intel Xeon Scalable and AMD Epyc processors, available in single-processor (1 socket) or dual-processor (2 sockets) configurations depending on your application's parallelism needs.
ECC Memory: Capacity, Speed, and Compatibility
ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory is essential in production servers, as it detects and corrects single-bit errors in real time, guaranteeing data integrity. We offer DDR4 and DDR5 ECC modules in various capacities (from 16 GB to 256 GB per module) and speeds, always validated for the selected processors. The optimal memory configuration depends on the number of processor channels and the expected workload: databases, virtualization, rendering, or data analysis.
Enterprise NVMe Drives and Hot-Swap Storage
Storage is one of the factors that most impacts a server's actual performance. Enterprise NVMe drives offer latencies below 100 microseconds and read speeds exceeding 7 GB/s, making them ideal for high-performance databases and AI applications. For mass storage servers, hot-swap SAS/SATA bays allow for hot-swapping drives without service interruption. We offer configurations from 4 to 60 bays depending on the selected model.
Redundant Power Supplies: Guaranteed 24/7 Availability
A redundant power supply (PSU) allows the server to continue operating even if one of the power supplies fails, making it essential in high-availability environments. Our servers offer configurations with 1+1 and N+1 power supplies, with wattages ranging from 500W to 3000W depending on system consumption. The power supplies in our models are 80 PLUS Platinum or Titanium certified to maximize energy efficiency and reduce electricity bills.
Network Cards, LAN Connectivity, and InfiniBand
Connectivity defines the server's network capabilities and its integration into the existing infrastructure. For standard environments, we offer configurations with Gigabit (1GbE) or 10GbE LAN.
For high-speed applications, server clustering, or SAN storage networks, we offer Mellanox ConnectX network cards with 25GbE, 100GbE, and InfiniBand HDR, guaranteeing maximum data transfer with minimal latency.
Customized Servers for Every Use Case
There is no one-size-fits-all server. Each project has different requirements in terms of processing, storage, connectivity, and availability. Below we describe the most frequent use cases and how we configure the ideal server for each one.
Servers for virtualization with Proxmox, VMware, and Hyper-V
Virtualization is one of the most widespread uses of servers in business environments: it allows multiple virtual machines (VMs) to run on a single physical machine, optimizing resource usage and reducing hardware costs.
For virtualization with Proxmox VE, VMware ESXi, or Microsoft Hyper-V, we recommend Intel Xeon Scalable or AMD Epyc processors with a high core count, high-capacity ECC memory (128 GB or more), enterprise-grade NVMe drives for the VM datastore, and 10GbE or higher connectivity for network traffic between hosts. Proxmox servers are especially popular among companies seeking a high-performance, open-source virtualization solution without additional licensing costs. Servers for machine learning and artificial intelligence Training artificial intelligence and machine learning models requires specialized hardware capable of processing large volumes of data in parallel. AI servers are configured with NVIDIA GPUs (A100, H100, or RTX Professional), high-end AMD Epyc or Intel Xeon processors, high-capacity DDR5 ECC memory, NVMe RAID storage for training datasets, and InfiniBand connectivity for GPU node clustering. This type of infrastructure is the foundation for computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), predictive analytics, and generative modeling projects.
Video surveillance servers: massive storage and high availability
Large-scale video surveillance systems generate enormous volumes of data that must be stored for extended periods with high availability and fast access. Video surveillance servers are configured with a large number of hot-swap bays (12, 24, or even 60 drives), combining high-capacity SAS disks for recording storage with NVMe SSDs for the system and search indexes. Redundant power supplies and parity RAID (RAID 5 or RAID 6) are recommended to ensure recording integrity in the event of a disk failure. Cybersecurity Servers: Firewalls, IDS, and Traffic Analysis Cybersecurity environments require servers capable of processing and analyzing large volumes of network traffic in real time without introducing latency. For intrusion detection (IDS/IPS) platforms, forensics, SIEM, or next-generation firewalls, we recommend processors with high per-core performance (Intel Xeon or AMD Epyc), multiple high-speed network interfaces (10GbE or 25GbE), NVMe storage for real-time logging and analysis, and BIOS with advanced security options (TPM 2.0, Secure Boot).
Industrial PCs for Edge Computing and Extreme Environments
Edge computing brings processing power to the point where data is generated, eliminating the latency of sending it to a central server. Ibertrónico's industrial PCs for edge computing are designed to operate in harsh environmental conditions: extreme temperatures, vibrations, dust, and humidity. They feature a fanless design for maximum reliability, multiple industrial connectivity ports (RS-232/485, GPIO, CAN) and low-power processors for field installations. They are the ideal solution for control nodes in factories, electrical substations, transport infrastructure, and any environment where a conventional rack server cannot operate. For projects in extreme environments with extended temperature requirements (-20°C to +70°C), shock, and vibration, we have models certified for continuous industrial use, with component support guaranteed for 5 to 10 years. Frequently Asked Questions about Custom Servers
What What is the difference between a 'custom server' and a 'personalized server'?
In practice, both terms describe the same thing: a server whose hardware configuration is determined according to the client's specific requirements rather than being factory-set. At Ibertrónica, we use both terms interchangeably. What matters is the process: needs analysis, component selection, assembly, validation, and delivery with included technical support.
How long does it take for a configured server to arrive?
For standard configurations with in-stock components, the usual delivery time is 24 to 72 business hours from order confirmation.
For projects with components of limited availability or very specific configurations (for example, servers with multiple GPUs or high-end dual-processor platforms), the lead time may be extended to 5-10 business days. In any case, our team will confirm the exact lead time before finalizing the order.
Which ECC memories are compatible with my processor?
Compatibility between ECC memory and processor depends on the socket, platform, and chipset used. As a general rule: Intel Xeon Scalable processors are compatible with DDR5 ECC RDIMM; AMD Epyc 9004/9005 processors support DDR5 ECC RDIMM and 3DS RDIMM; Intel Xeon E processors work with DDR4 ECC UDIMM or RDIMM depending on the model. Our technical team will confirm the optimal combination and validate compatibility before assembling the server.
Are enterprise NVMe drives compatible with RAID?
Yes, although with important nuances. Enterprise NVMe drives can be used in software RAID (ZFS, mdadm, or Proxmox itself) with excellent performance.
For hardware RAID with NVMe, a compatible controller (HBA or RAID card with NVMe support) is required, which we include in the models that require it. For high-capacity NVMe storage, it is also possible to implement software-managed JBOF (Just a Bunch of Flash) solutions. Can I install Proxmox or VMware on any model? Most of our servers are compatible with Proxmox VE, VMware ESXi, and Hyper-V. However, it is important to verify the compatibility of the network adapters and storage controllers with the chosen hypervisor before configuring the system. Our team can pre-install the operating system or hypervisor of your choice as part of the initial setup, so the server arrives ready to run from the very first moment.
Are redundant power supplies standard or configured upon request?
It depends on the model. Some servers in the SMB range include a single power supply by default, with the option to add a second redundant power supply during configuration. Mid-range and high-end models (Xeon Scalable, AMD Epyc) usually include redundant power supplies as standard. We provide details in the configuration sheet for each device and advise you on when it is essential based on your availability requirements.
