The Silverstone SST-SDP12 enables two M.2 SATA SSDs and one M.2 NVMe SSD to operate on two SATA ports and one mini-SAS (U.2) port.

The three M.2 slots allow the installation of M.2 SSDs up to 110 millimeters long. Therefore, the adapter is compatible with almost all common M.2 SSD sizes. The 22110, 2280, 2260 or 2242 SSDs are inserted and screwed into the slots. There are three types of M.2 SSDs, please make sure you know the differences between them and if your system / motherboard supports them before using them with your SilverStone product.

A 15-pin SATA connector is used for SATA power, which is used to power the adapter and the built-in SSD. The card uses the 3.5-inch form factor and can therefore easily be accommodated in a hard drive enclosure or mounting location for 3.5 "data carriers.

It is used in SATA SSDs and with an interface through the AHCI controller and the SATA 3.0 port (6 Gbit / s) exposed through the M.2 connector.

It is used in PCI Express SSDs and interfaces through the AHCI controller and PCI Express channels, providing backward compatibility with broad SATA support in operating systems at the cost of not providing optimal performance for using AHCI to access PCI Express SSDs.

It is used in PCI Express SSDs and interfaces through the NVMe controller and PCI Express channels, as a scalable, high-performance host controller interface specially designed and optimized to interface with PCI Express SSDs. The NVMe has been designed from the ground up, taking advantage of the low latency and parallelism of PCI Express SSDs and complementing the parallelism of contemporary CPUs, platforms and applications.
